CSMC supports retirement residence with worship services

Outside of Kelso Villa

Earlier this year, CSMC was contacted by the Kelso Villa retirement home in Owen Sound, Ontario. Their residents needed pastoral care, namely Sunday services. Rev. Brenda Foster and Rev. Jane Herron were able to answer the call and volunteered to do this work. There was only one problem: neither of them had done Sunday service for a congregation before! Luckily, another of our experienced members, Pastor Dan Brown, was able to lend his experience and wisdom and tutor Brenda and Jane.

We are happy to report that the residents Kelso Villa are now getting what they need. Thank you, Rev. Brenda and Rev. Jane for the good work you are doing in the community.

“My experience with the residents at Kelso has been nothing but positive,” says Rev. Jane. “Although our numbers at this time are not large – usually 10 to 15 people – they are enthusiastic. They love to sing well known hymns and appreciate the structure of a church service. If a regular attendee doesn’t show up, I will try and look them up after the service just to say hello. The residents tell me they really appreciate having a service on Sunday. Personally, this is a part of ministry I hadn’t considered, but I am so glad that I am able to give my time and energy to the Kelso Villa residents.”
